⛴ To appreciate the remarkable role played by the service in securing the nation's interests in the maritime zones. 

⛴This year, India is celebrating its 46th Indian Coast Guard Day.

⛴ The Union Cabinet approved the setting up of a 'Coast Guard' in 1977 with two frigates and five patrol boats transferred from the Indian Navy. Therefore, the Indian Coast Guard came into being on 1 February 1977.
